What to expect at a Milestone photography session in Leeds.

Let’s talk about toddlers.

They’re cheeky, they’re often wobbly on their feet, and they CAN be incredibly messy.

Now it wouldn’t be fair if I didn’t tell you, this is MY daughter.

It had been a while since I’d taken any “proper” photographs of her. She is way past the stage of sitting still, and that is absolutely fine! I treated this mini session as I would any other portrait session. I let her be a toddler, I didn’t try and get her to pose, sit still or stand there. It’s just not going to happen. If you have a toddler, you will totally understand where I’m coming from.

I often suggest that we go outside, go to the park or play in the garden. Let them run free. Let them be wild. Let them be themselves. That’s what you want to capture right?

There pint sized personalities spilling at the brim!

Now, the weather was horrendous, and I know that my daughter loves drawing and expressing her creativity. She also LOVES to get messy. So we got the mat out, got the paints out and just let her go wild. It was going to happen anyway, she didn’t need very much encouragement. (added bonus, we made mother’s day cards whilst we were at it)

I know that not everyone would invite this kind of chaos into their house… that’s okay too.

When you book a Milestone session or a portrait session with me, I spend time getting to know you and your toddler before the session. I’ll find out what makes them laugh, what makes them smile, what they don’t like. Their favourite activities. What gets the going. Do they love to sit with their cuddly toys and read a book? Do they love baking cakes in the kitchen? Do they love splashing in puddles? Do they love going on the swings? NO PROBLEM!

I tailor each photo session to you and your family! Not only to make sure that you have fun, but so you have a collection of photographs that are authentically you! They should tell your story! Not be contrived in away that just reflects the style that I like to shoot in or whatever is popular on Pinterest at the moment.
